weeeeell...... this sounds rather like a song's lyrics than a poem. it's a little to sweet to my tastes and as you've already said - quite average.
still, it's so sweet and positive, that it'd probably earn you a lot of money if you actually made it into a song heh

and why exactly would you need any positive outlook on debate competition?.... come on, debates are all about agression, irony, sharp speach - and of course, there can't be a debate without pointing fingers and banging your hands against the table.
that's all there is to it - so you don't really need to think positive to debate, quite the opposite actually heh
